Position Summary

We are seeking an Automation QA Engineer with 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing and maintaining automated test scripts. In this role, your primary focus will be the technical execution of automation suites and the development of reliable scripts within established frameworks. You will work under the guidance of the Senior Automation QA to enhance test coverage while supporting manual testing activities when required to ensure overall product quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Automation Development & Execution

• Script Development: Design and develop automated test scripts for web and API applications using Playwright or Selenium based on established framework patterns.

• Component Contribution: Contribute to the development of reusable framework components and utility functions as assigned by the Senior Automation Lead.

• Suite Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain existing automation scripts to reflect UI or logic changes in the application.

• Execution & Analysis: Execute automated regression and smoke suites, analyze failures, and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to distinguish between script flakiness and actual product defects.

Technical Testing & Collaboration

• Manual Testing Support: Assist the manual QA team during critical release phases or for high-risk features that are not yet automation-ready.

• API Testing: Perform technical validation of APIs using tools like Postman or automated scripts (e.g., REST Assured or Python requests).

• Version Control: Utilize Git or Bitbucket for version control, ensuring all script changes follow team branching strategies and undergo peer review.

• AI Integration: Leverage approved AI tools to assist in generating boilerplate automation code, synthetic test data, and drafting technical documentation to increase development speed.

• Learning Path: Actively participate in framework-level discussions and reviews to gain the skills necessary for advanced framework architecture.

Authority

• Script Proposals: Authority to propose updates or optimizations for specific automated test cases within your assigned modules.

• Defect Tagging: Authority to identify and log automation-blocking issues in Jira, providing technical logs and reproduction steps.

• Build Feedback: Authority to provide immediate "Pass/Fail" feedback on builds based on the results of automated smoke tests.

• Requirement Clarification: Authority to request further details from developers or product owners if a feature's logic is insufficient for automation script design.

Accountability

• Execution Health: Accountable for the successful execution and reporting of assigned automated test suites.

• Script Stability: Responsible for ensuring that assigned automated scripts are reliable and yield consistent results across different environments.

• Technical Documentation: Accountable for maintaining up-to-date documentation for all developed automation scripts and test plans.

• Bug Reporting: Responsible for the accuracy and technical depth of defects identified during automated or manual execution.

Good to Have

• Certification: ISTQB Foundation level or higher is preferred.

• Deep understanding of automation framework architecture

• Proficiency in design principles for the automation framework

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience: 3 years in Automation QA with a focus on web and API platforms

• Languages: Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript for script development

• Tooling: Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, and BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Pytest).

• Version Control: Basic knowledge of Git/Bitbucket commands (branching, commits, pull requests).

• Methodology: Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum and testing design principles.
