Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive Associate QA Engineer with 1-2 years of experience to support our quality assurance initiatives. In this role, you will focus on the thorough execution of manual test cases across web and mobile platforms. Unlike an entry-level role, you are expected to provide technical context for the bugs you find (logs/API responses) and take active ownership of assigned test cycles within an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Test Execution & Technical Verification

• Requirement Analysis: Thoroughly review User Stories and functional specifications to ensure a complete understanding of expected behavior before testing begins.

• Manual Execution: Execute detailed manual test cases for Functional, UI, and Regression testing on Web and Mobile (iOS/Android) environments.

• Technical Context: Use Chrome DevTools (Console & Network tabs) to capture error logs and network failures, ensuring every bug report is accompanied by technical evidence.

• API Verification: Perform basic manual API testing using Postman to verify endpoint status codes and basic JSON response structures.

• Defect Management: Log clear, reproducible defects in Jira, ensuring all mandatory fields (environment, steps, logs) are provided for developers

Reporting & Collaboration

• Documentation: Maintain and update test cases in the Test Management Tool based on feature updates or feedback from Senior QA.

• Sprint Support: Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint ceremonies to provide updates on execution progress and blockers.

Continuous Improvement & AI

• AI Productivity: Utilize approved AI tools to assist in drafting test case outlines and generating synthetic test data for edge-case testing.

Authority

• Build Rejection: Authority to suggest to Senior QA to reject a build from entering the QA environment if it fails basic smoke tests

• Defect Entry: Authority to log defects directly into Jira and assign an initial severity based on the impact on the user journey.

• Documentation Updates: Authority to suggest and draft updates for existing test cases when application logic changes

Accountability

• Reporting Accuracy: Accountable for the accuracy and technical completeness of bug reports (Zero "Need More Info" status from developers).

• Execution Timelines: Responsible for completing 100% of assigned test cases within the defined sprint or regression timeline.

• Data Integrity: Accountable for ensuring that test data used during execution is cleaned up or managed according to project guidelines.

Required Skills and experience

• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in manual software testing.

• Testing Knowledge: Strong theoretical and practical understanding of SDLC, STLC, and bug life cycle.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with Postman (API) and basic browser debugging tools.

• Tools: Experience using Jira for defect tracking and QMetry (or similar) for test management.

• Soft Skills: High attention to detail and the ability to clearly document complex technical steps.

Nice to Have

• Automation: Basic exposure to Selenium or other web automation tools.

• Certification: ISTQB Foundation level certification
