Caregiver Visibility for SmartHip Guardian with a Connected Wearable Platform

Client Overview

SmartHip Guardian is a healthcare technology initiative built around a smart wearable belt for people at risk of falls. The belt works alongside mobile applications, a web-based administration portal, and an eCommerce store to support continuous monitoring, emergency response, caregiver connectivity, and device management.

For that to hold together, wearable hardware, cloud services, mobile apps, and admin tools all had to behave as one platform. Caregivers needed remote visibility into a wearer's wellbeing, and the client needed device and subscription management that stayed simple as the fleet grew.

Key Challenges

Discovery surfaced functional and operational gaps across monitoring, communication, device handling, and commerce.

Our Solution

We ran an extensive discovery phase before proposing any build. Our analysis traced the interactions between the wearable hardware, cloud services, mobile applications, caregivers, administrators, and the Shopify store, with particular attention to device lifecycle, emergency workflows, activity tracking, notification mechanisms, and caregiver interactions. What came out of it was a roadmap for a connected healthcare platform where devices, caregivers, and administrators operate in one ecosystem.

The Results

Discovery and planning produced a defined platform blueprint. The points below are what the engagement established.

A Unified Connected Ecosystem

A Unified Connected Ecosystem

Wearable hardware, mobile applications, administration tools, and eCommerce were brought into a single platform definition. Each part has a defined role and a defined relationship to the others.

Complete Caregiver Visibility

Complete Caregiver Visibility

Caregivers get real-time activity visibility and emergency notifications in one view. The design covers what they see, when they see it, and which events demand immediate attention.

Multi-Channel Alert System

Multi-Channel Alert System

Critical events reach caregivers through in-app notifications, email, SMS, and automated voice calls. Several routes to the same alert reduce the chance of a fall or SOS going unanswered.

Structured Device Management

Structured Device Management

Device pairing, assignment, synchronization, and replacement each have defined workflows. We settled the operating assumptions during discovery, including one active device per user.

Centralized Administration Portal

Centralized Administration Portal

Device inventory, warranties, and operational events sit in one admin layer. That gives the client a single place to manage the fleet as it grows.

Validated Hardware Integration

Validated Hardware Integration

SDK and API evaluation, plus proof-of-concept work, turned the biggest technical unknown into a documented integration path for connecting the belt to the software ecosystem.
