Company Overview
ARTMO GmbH is a social networking platform for artists and art lovers where they can interact and showcase their artwork. Buyers can even purchase the artworks and ARTMO takes a small amount of the traction amount as their commission.
Key Challenges
ARTMO GmbH faced several significant challenges with their existing WordPress-based site, which was negatively impacting user experience and operational efficiency.
Our Solution
To address these challenges, we conducted a thorough analysis of ARTMO’s existing platform. We started with a Performance Analysis to uncover what was slowing things down. We then looked at how users interacted with the site through a User Experience Evaluation, identifying areas where navigation could be smoother. Our Feature Gap Analysis highlighted essential tools the platform was missing, and finally, we carefully reviewed the existing data with a Data Assessment to ensure a seamless and secure migration to the new system.
Implementation Process
- The legacy platform was originally built on WordPress and faced significant performance issues.
- The platform was rebuilt from scratch using modern technologies to resolve these issues.
- NextJS (ReactJS framework) was used for the front end.
- NodeJS was implemented for server-side operations.
- MongoDB and MySQL were chosen as the databases.
- The shift to this robust tech stack significantly improved the site’s speed and responsiveness.
The new Artmo 2.0 platform was designed to include advanced and enhanced social networking features like:
- Users (ie: Individuals or Art Galleries or Museums) could now create separate artist profiles and customer logins,
- manage their profile pages similar to Facebook,
- create and manage pages for organizations or museums or Art Galleries, and
- interact with posts through comments and likes.
- Publish blog posts or engage (ie: like, comment) blog posts of other users.
- The platform also supports the listing of digital and physical artworks with advanced filtering options, enhancing user engagement and interactivity.
- Meticulously planned and executed the migration of existing user and artwork data.
- Migrated data from the legacy WordPress platform to the new Artmo 2.0 platform.
- Ensured accurate and secure data transfer.
- Maintained data integrity and consistency throughout the migration process.
- Leveraged and integrated Magento2 to streamline e-commerce functionality.
- Improved handling of e-commerce operations, resulting in decreased turnaround time for project delivery.
- Reduced overall project costs through efficient integration.
- Designed the integration to be seamless, ensuring no disruption to user interactions.
- Incorporated payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal to manage user subscription plans and transaction commissions efficiently.
- Created subscriptions in both Stripe and PayPal to provide a smooth payment experience.
- Ensured seamless payment processing for all platform users.
- Developed a comprehensive admin management console for ARTMO’s administrators to have full control over the platform.
- The console allows efficient management of users, subscriptions, artworks, and blog pages.
- Admins can approve artworks and blog pages, manage user accounts, and oversee subscription plans.
- Centralized all administrative functions into a single, user-friendly dashboard.
The ARTMO 2.0 platform now included several new features that were not there in the legacy platform:
- Subscription Plans: Various changes and enhancements were made to the subscription module, catering to different user needs and allowing admin to manage subscription plans based on more parameters.
- Social Networking Capabilities: Users could publish posts with images, videos, or text, and engage with other users through comments and likes.
- Artwork Filters: Enhanced filtering options for listing artworks made it easy for users to find specific pieces.
- Cart and Payment Flow: Users can add artworks to the cart and proceed through a streamlined payment flow which now accommodates the payments split of commission to ARTMO platform and net sale proceeds to Seller.
